Worth writing about
- A calculation looks wrong. This is the most useful message you can send. Include the figures you entered and what you expected — the numbers stay in your browser, so I cannot see them unless you tell me.
- A code section or a citation is wrong. NEC section numbers move between editions, California recodifies its ADU statutes, and states amend all of it. If I have cited something that no longer says what I claim it says, that is a defect worth fixing the same day.
- A deadline, ratio or fee has changed. Assessment ratios, filing deadlines, board names and statutory filing fees move. Corrections with a source are always welcome.
- Something is unclear. If a label sent you to the wrong line on your assessment notice or the wrong nameplate on an appliance, that is a defect in the tool, not in you.
What I cannot help with
I cannot review your assessment, tell you what your board will accept, tell you what your city will permit, or tell you whether a particular panel is safe. I am not licensed to do any of that. For an appeal, a licensed property tax consultant or an appraiser in your state; for an ADU, your city’s planning counter and an architect; for anything electrical, a licensed electrician — and please hand them the printed worksheet rather than a screenshot of a conclusion.
Professionals
You are welcome to use these tools with clients at the kitchen table — several electricians and a couple of consultants already do, and the printable NEC worksheet exists partly because of that. I do not sell advertising placements, sponsored positions, or leads, so please do not ask.
